Earthquake In Northern Oklahoma Felt In Kansas City

A magnitude 4.7 earthquake rattled northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas early Thursday.

In accordance with the National Earthquake Information Center, the quake occurred at 1:42 a.m. and was centered about 8 miles southwest of Cherokee.

There were no instantaneous information of damage or injuries from the quake, which was experienced as far away as the Kansas City region.

National Earthquake Information Center geophysicist Randy Baldwin states Oklahoma has witnessed more than 20 magnitude 4 quakes this year.
