When George Carlin was alive, he was initially by no means afraid to speak his mind. The truth is, Carlin even went to jail for taking a stand for his right to speak what was on his mind. George Carlin – Political Correctness is fascism pretending to be Manners

On July 21, 1972, Carlin had been arrested after performing his routine at Milwaukee’s Summerfest .

To many people, saying the words is shock humor or silly. On the other hand, to Carlin, these words were verbal activism. Had he not pushed the envelope on just what we can not say, that the first Amendment “free speech” would probably still be in the stone age.

Carlin was an activist against censorship and the politically correct , and he was so well received due to the fact he possessed a genius knack for communicating these ideas to people in a humorous manner.

George Carlin became famous regarding his comedy routines, through which he would call out every little thing from religion to government.Prior to his death in 2008, Carlin composed book titled, “When Will Jesus Bring the Pork Chops?”, where he blasted everything from the dumbing down of America to the politically correct police.

What made this final book by Carlin exceptional was the simple fact that he read it out loud himself and published it an an audiobook.

Listed below is a brief excerpt of that book about the pitfalls of being ‘PC’. As it starts out, George points out how being politically correct is actually intolerance masquerading as tolerance.

Indent Political correctness is America’s latest form of intolerance, and it is primarily pestilent because it comes disguised as tolerance.

It symbolizes itself as fairness, yet attempts to limit and control people’s language with strict codes and rigid rules.

I am not sure that is the way to fight discrimination. I am not sure silencing people or driving them to alter their speech is the greatest method for dealing with problems that go much deeper than speech.

In the short excerpt below, Carlin points out just how evasive of a slope, the PC police can lead us down. It is definitely important that we get past ‘being offended’ and move on to true tolerance – one that allows for the voicing of any opinion – no matter how ‘offensive’ it might be.
