Sherpa Fire Causes Santa Barbara To Declare State Of Emergency!

Written by JayWill7497

Santa Barbara California has declared a state of emergency as the Sherpa fire grew 4,000 acres overnight, with the Los Angeles Times reporting that at the time the fire was only 5% contained. The fire is currently threatening roughly 140 homes and ranches which have forced evacuations. Around 1,200 firefighters are working the blaze.

Reports say that during the day the fire is somewhat predictable but in the evening, when the hot air from the nearby mountains clash with the cool air off the ocean, fire-stoking winds pick up which picks up the pace of the fire spreading and has the danger of creating fire tornadoes. With the weekend expected to only get warmer, crews may be battling the fire in triple digit temperatures.
